Those Simple Words

I've been baking for my families and friends for a few years now. Not as often as I would like to, but enough for most of them to have a little taste of some cookies or a slice of pies or cakes. And I would ask, "What do you think?"

For some reason, their answers never really satisfy with me. Some would say, "It's delicious". Some would say, "Can you make more, please!" Some would say, "I love it!" and my mom as always would come with something like, "Why is it not sweet enough?" or "Why is it too sweet?" And my hubby would go with a safer answer like, "It's perfect". My dad, however, never really touch any of it.

Now, I'm not delusional. I know when my baking or cooking, when they actually suck or when they are just edible or when they are actually very good. But that's just me, so I need some real feedback to really understand whether or not my bar of good taste is high enough as every body else's or perhaps I'm just an unbelievably trash who eats just about anything. And I do realize that I'm merely an amateur that my baking is not really that fancy to begin with. Still..

Until one day, my just learning to talk 2 year old have a taste of my freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. He finished the whole thing and come up to me, face all smeared with crumbs and chocolate, fingers sticky and said, "MMmmmm.. Yummy!"

I almost teared up.

That's all I need. An honest review from my son.
