Little Blueberry Cake with Streusel on Top

The best thing about baking is, the smell of the stuff you're making while it's in the oven filling the whole house, calling everybody to come out of their rooms to check out "what is that yummy smell?" Even when your bake goods don't turn out as well as you would hope, still, the smell is still good. And that is why I always make a point to bake something at least once a week.

At first I wanted to make some raspberry cupcakes. The thing is, living in Malaysia, raspberries are freaking expensive, even the frozen ones. So there I was, in front of the frozen food section, calculating my budget when my eyes caught the fresh blueberries' price. Hmm.. still a bit costly, but at least not as much as the raspberries.

So, I bought two boxes of fresh blueberries instead.

At home, I went browsing the internet for some blueberry cupcakes recipe. But I find it hard for me to settle on any of the recipes that I could find. Instead, I decided to use a blueberry coffeecake recipe and turn it into bunch of small cakes instead. Sort of like a cup-coffeecake.

It turned out fantastic! The cake is so light and the blueberries kinda give it a moist texture on top. Although the blueberries that I bought are a little sour but the streusel is sweet, so there were like sweet and sour thing going on there.

The cakes disappear within minutes. My son cried when he couldn't have some more. I guess that's a good thing, huh? The best thing is, they are so easy to make, it only took me about 20 minutes to prepare them and another 15 to bake. If only blueberries could cost a bit cheaper around here, I think I'd be making it every week. Haha!

Anyway, you can check out the recipe here.
