Technically, on day 4 we won't be on the road. Instead we are heading to the Redang Island by ferry.
My boys could not contain their excitement about going on a ferry.
We depart from the Syahbandar jetty at 3 pm. Yes, I know, a bit late. Well, this trip to the island was planned and managed by hubby's office for their end of the year office trip. Therefore, I have no control what so ever regarding the itinerary and the accommodation. And I hate not being in control when I'm traveling. But I decided to just keep my control-freakness (is there such a word?) to a lower level and pray real hard that everything will be cool. Haha!
The ferry ride was 2 hours long. Once we get to the island jetty, the resort van was already there to take us to the Redang Island Resort.
Redang Island Resort... Oh boy oh boy oh boy...
The resort is perched up on the hill, overlooking the jetty and the ocean. The ocean, is beautiful. The jetty, however, not so much.

Ocean view from the resort |
Anyway, the room is old but decent and comfortable. We got the rainforest room, which means, no ocean view. But the room comes with a balcony overlooking the jungle. Peaceful, though a tad creepy at night.
This resort got no beach. Well, from what I read, they do have a private beach, a very small one. And according to reviews that I read, the path leading to this super tiny 'private' beach of theirs is super steep. I, however, could not find this path when I was walking around the resort to take pictures. Didn't bother to ask the resort staff as my little one was suddenly down with the fever.
Day 5
By the second day we were there, I got very depressed. How could I not be. My boy down with fever and the resort is not even by the beach. The only thing that's good there to me were the staff. They were polite and nice.
By 11 in the morning, my little one was starting to look a little better. Thankfully we brought some meds with us. Keep paracetamol close to you when travelling with children. We decided to take the boys to the pool. Oh well, at least there were pool, right?

At least they have a pool :') |
So we decided to take the resort shuttle to get to the closest public beach, Pantai Teluk Dalam.

Boy with fever, starting to feel a little better. |
You can swim a little to the middle to see turtles swimming in the water. But since the little one is still recovering, I decided to take it easy and simply swim near the shore.

Crystal clear water |
The big one, however really went at it. He had the time of his life, truly enjoying the water. He is a lot like me this one.

My Azzam splashing about. |
I wish we could stay longer. Heck, I wish we could stay somewhere right by the beach. But, that's ok, one day we will be back.

All my boys enjoying the water. |
Back from the beach, I'm not as depressed anymore. Super tanned, but not depressed. Haha!
I gotta go for now. Mommy duty. I will continue in another post soon.
